Carbon Horizon is a web-based platform that serves as the digital backbone for carbon capture, utilization, and storage operations. It integrates directly into existing CCUS systems to track carbon data in real time, automate regulatory reporting with artificial intelligence, and support the selling, transport, and storage of CO₂. By reducing manual labor and increasing data accuracy, the platform makes complex carbon operations easier to manage at scale.
Carbon Horizon is led by a student research and innovation team from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. The team brings together experience in product development, market research, and system design, with a shared commitment to building climate technology that delivers real environmental impact while strengthening public trust.
Carbon Capture & Climate Technology
Louisiana is one of the largest producers of CO₂ in the United States, yet it lags behind other states in carbon capture adoption. Strict regulations, public distrust, and limited operational resources make it difficult for companies to implement and manage CCUS systems, even as emissions remain high and climate pressure grows.
Adopting and managing carbon capture practices in Louisiana is complex and resource-intensive. Regulatory requirements are slow and burdensome, reporting is labor-heavy, and smaller companies struggle to comply while larger operators face inefficiencies at scale. These barriers slow adoption and erode public confidence.
